Application Engineer
The GAD Application Engineer is responsible for supporting the maintenance and growth of GAD’s business, working in a pre-sales and post-sales role by exceeding customers’ expectations in everything we do.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide phone, email and onsite technical support from design to application assistance, trouble shooting and product training.
- Work closely with the sales team in support of the sales process such as the development of sales strategies, technical demonstrations/presentations and selecting/sizing the appropriate product per application requirements.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the automation products offered by GAD and transfer this knowledge across the GAD organization with internal product training/products updates.
- Support the development and implementation of marketing campaigns and programs that target specific industries/applications with the control product solutions. This includes supporting the creation of website content (e.g. copy, video, blogs, white papers) and the development and delivery of seminars and workshops.
- Develop and maintain close business relationships with key vendor personnel – Product Specialist, Account Management, and Product/Marketing Managers.
- Attend key meetings, such as product updates and training.
- Work closely with other GAD departments; Customer Service, Applications Engineers and Management to foster teamwork, exceed customer expectations and continuous improvement efforts.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with industrial automation, electrical control, motion and drive solutions.
- Education: A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering is desired however other engineering degrees such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering will be seriously considered.
Language Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with client personnel and employees at all organizational levels and develop effective working relationships with staff and a network of resources.
- This includes making presentations, product training, customer support, and supporting overall sales process.
Reasoning Ability:
- Individual should be able to exercise sound judgment, be able to plan, be well organized, have excellent oral and written communication skills, work well under pressure, take initiative, and be flexible and cooperative.
Physical Demands:
- Travel via a car is expected approximately 30-50% of the time.
- Some walking, standing, bending and carrying of demonstration equipment is required.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products is required – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Work Environment:
- Normal office environment and standard hours with occasional overtime required.
- Out of office work at customer’s facility is required however overnight travel is at a minimum. - From time to time Sales Engineers will attend product training which will require out of state travel and overnight stay.
